The Big Island of Hawaii is the island chain's youngest island. The area is famous for incredible beaches and clear blue waters, and is an excellent locale for scuba diving and other water-related activities. You'll find an array of hotels in the Kailua-Kona region of the island, ranging from basic hotels to large resorts.

Kona Tiki Hotel

The Kona Tiki Hotel is a short distance away from Kailua Village. It's a small hotel, featuring just 15 oceanfront rooms. Facilities at the hotel include a swimming pool, free continental breakfast (included in the price) and barbecue facilities. Rooms are basic but comfortable. They feature a private lanai where guests can sit and enjoy the ocean and all rooms have small refrigerators. In addition, rooms with a kitchenette are also available. What the hotel does not have are televisions or telephones, however if you are looking for a cheap, tranquil place to stay in paradise, the Kona Tiki Hotel is an excellent option. There are also numerous beaches worth exploring near the Kona Tiki hotel.

Manago Hotel

The Manago Hotel is a pretty hotel in Captain Cook town, and offers spectacular views of nearby Kealakekua Bay. Facilities at the hotel include an on-site restaurant serving local and mainland cuisines and a Japanese garden featuring a koi fish pond, bamboo and vegetables that are used to prepare the meals at the restaurant. In addition, there is a Japanese-inspired tatami room for functions. Rooms range from those with private baths and those with shared baths and include a lanai where you can enjoy the beautiful bay. There is also a Japanese room featuring tatami mats and other Japanese-style décor. Activities available nearby include kayaking and snorkeling at Kealakekua Bay.

Sheraton Keauhou Bay

The Sheraton Keauhou Bay is a massive resort in Kona featuring more than 500 rooms, a swimming pool with a water slide, numerous shops and conference rooms, two spas, lighted tennis courts and a day spa. The keiki center features numerous activities for kids such as Nintendo and a movie theater. Room amenities include the Sheraton "sweet sleeper" bed, a mini refrigerator and high speed Internet access (for a fee). The hotel is next to a popular spot in which to look for manta rays. The best way to see the manta rays is by either taking a scuba diving trip or a snorkel trip to the site.
