Wickenburg, Arizona, is 60 miles from downtown Phoenix in the Sonoran Desert. The town was created in 1863 when Henry Wickenburg settled the area while looking for gold. He discovered the Vulture Mine, which contained more than $30 million in gold and can still be toured today. These days the town is known for clean air, dude ranches and open landscape. The town is also known for the bronze sculptures throughout town that depict people from the late 1800s and animals, including rattlesnakes and Gila monsters.
