Cambodian Restaurants in Toronto, Canada

Cambodian Restaurants in Toronto, Canada
Situated on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario, the city of Toronto abounds in parks and other public spaces. With a lively lakefront district, which includes an urban, artificial beach, Toronto offers many opportunities for bicycling, jogging, inline skating and various on-the-water activities. And when you get hungry, Toronto is also home to some of the best Cambodian food in North America.

Khmer Thai

Housed in a space formerly occupied by a fast-food restaurant, Khmer Thai bears some grim reminders of it's former life: mustard yellow walls, Formica tables and bulb-less fluorescent light fixtures. However, don't be put off by the shoddy decor. The food at Khmer Thai is delicious, authentic and served in plentiful portions. Check out the "Kako Khmer," a savory-sweet mixture of chicken, jackfruit, green papaya, eggplant and long bean. The Khmer's casual atmosphere and generous portions make it the ideal place to go and refuel after a day spent cycling around the city.

Angkor Restaurant

The Angkor is a clean, well-kept restaurant, with friendly service and a reputation for delicious food. The atmosphere is casual, but pleasant. The food is excellent and authentic, using only traditional Cambodian spices and ingredients. The restaurant's owner is a Cambodian master chef, with over 15 years experience. Be sure and try the curry noodle soup as a starter.

Queen Mother Cafe'

Known to locals as the "Queen Mum," the Queen Mother Cafe' has been a Toronto institution since 1978. Housed in a historic building in the heart of the city's entertainment district, the Queen Mum is famous for it's southeast Asian fusion of Lao, Thai, Cambodian and pan-global cuisines. With art on the walls, an extensive menu and wine list and an outdoor patio, the Queen Mum is one of the nicest dining experiences to be had in Toronto. Try the Sunday brunch after a morning jog along the lakefront.
