Located in upstate New York, about 100 miles north of Syracuse, glacier-formed Black Lake is a freshwater angler's dream come true. Covering more than 11,000 acres, it is 20 miles long and four miles across at its widest point. Black Lake has 60 miles of shoreline and several rocky islands, sandbars, bays, weed beds, mid-lake shoals and drop offs. Known for its large- and small-mouth bass fishing, Black Lake fishermen can also catch catfish, crappie, northern pike, bullhead and trophy-sized muskie. Visitors may also enjoy windsurfing, golf and boat tours. Travelers to the remote lake will find the hotel accommodations are 1 and 2-star equivalent rustic cabin resorts and efficiency motels.

Sunnyside of Black Lake

Sunnyside of Black Lake provides convenient lakeside efficiency rooms with cable TV, two double beds, refrigerator, cooking range, pots, dishes, utensils and silverware. The hotel has a boat launch, 500 feet of floating docks with power, a gas dock, boat rentals, a fish cleaning facility, picnic tables and grills. A short walk from the hotel is a bait shop, three restaurants and Black Lake's only full size grocery store.

Indian Head Point Resort

Located on the Black Lake in the 1000 Islands region near the Canadian border, Indian Head Point Resort is a lakefront fishing resort consisting of 10 cabins and cottages sleeping four to six people each. All cabins and cottages are wheelchair accessible, have screened in porches, extra blankets, playing cards, board games, Wi-Fi access and kitchens with coffee makers, pans, dishes and utensils. On the grounds of the resort are laundry facilities, a bait shop, a dock with gas and oil for private boats, boat and life jacket rentals, kayak rentals, three hole chip and putt range, game room, fish cleaning facility, fish freezer storage, basketball courts, horseshoe pits, volleyball and a swimming area with a sandy beach. When not fishing, guests can tour Singer Castle on Dark Island and historic Boldt Castle on Heart Island, both within 15 miles of the resort, or enjoy hiking and mountain climbing at the nearby Adirondack State Park.

The Log Cabins

The most modern accommodation on Black Lake is The Log Cabins fishing resort consisting of 21 two, three, and four bedroom cabins. All cabins are lakefront and have screened porches, cable TV, and equipped kitchens with microwaves and coffee pots. The resort has a general store, 1,500 feet of dock with electricity, fish cleaning houses, fish freezers, and guests can rent powerboats, canoes and paddle boats. For visitors not interested in fishing, The Log Cabins is a short drive from golf, horseback riding, museums, historic homes and hot air balloon tours.
