Hemingway Eco-Resort
Hemingway is a small eco resort near Cozumel, about a twenty minute boat ride from the mainland. The resort is a cluster of 10 private cabanas nestled along the beach of Tulum. Perhaps the most ecologically friendly resort near Cozumel, Hemingway only offers electricity between the hours of 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., and hot water is considered one of the luxuries of the resort. Guests are encouraged to get in touch with nature by hiking through the surrounding nature areas and watching the fantastic sunrises available on the front steps of the hotel. There is no television or swimming pool, and all entertainment is in the form of adventurous nature excursions and enjoying the simple life. As of November 2009, rooms at the Hemingway Eco-Resort were $160 per night and included a complimentary breakfast for two.

Ventanas al Mar
The Ventanas al Mar is located in the quieter, more preserved area of the island. This green hotel offers 14 rooms with spectacular views of the ocean. The hotel is ecologically friendly in all of its endeavors, even participating in the yearly Sea Turtle Protection Program. The white sand beach allows for lazy days in the sun, and the hotel is powered by a combination of wind and solar power. Guests can enjoy snorkeling along the coast, or take a taxi into the main part of Cozumel to enjoy the many attractions and nature excursions available there. Some people may opt for the exciting flight tours available to tour the Mexican mainland. As of November 2009, rooms at the Ventanas al Mar were approximately $90 per night in the high season.

Hacienda Tres Rios
The Hacienda Tres Rios is a luxury eco resort just fourteen miles from Cozumel. The resort is a part of the Rainforest Alliance, Green Globe and the World Heritage Alliance. Guests of this green hotel experience spacious luxury suites that are stylishly decorated. Most of the rooms include panoramic views of the ocean and Jacuzzi tubs. There is a spa and restaurant on the hotel property and a host of recreation activities around the resort to keep travelers busy throughout the trip.
With the Riviera Maya running right past the hotel, there are 326 acres of scenic beauty to enjoy. Guests can take a canoe down the river, hike through guided eco tours, bask in the rays of the white sand beach, or enjoy snorkeling in the pristine waters of Cozumel.
