Top Family Resorts in California
Outdoor adventure enthusiasts often travel with their whole family and it can be challenging to coordinate a vacation plan that satisfies everyone. Fortunately, there are a variety of resorts in California that offer outdoor activities for children and adults and many of them are located next to some of the state's most scenic natural areas.

Alisal Guest Ranch

Alisal Guest Ranch is located just outside the coastal city of Santa Barbara and is adjacent to the Los Padres National Forest. The resort is an old west style ranch set on 10,000 acres that include a private lake and two golf courses. The Alisal Guest Ranch has a barnyard petting zoo for the kids that offers activities such as steer head roping and egg gathering. The lake is stocked with bass and bluegill and there are kayaks, sailboats, canoes and pedal boats available to all guests. The ranch offers horseback riding lessons for the whole family as well as guided rides through the forest. The nearby central California coast presents opportunities for surfing, sailing and whale watching.
