Hotels in Boca Raton, Florida
Located Southeast Florida on the Atlantic Ocean, 50 minutes north of Miami, the city of Boca Raton is known for it's mild weather and affluent residents. In 1925 Boca Raton was incorporated and architect Addison Mizner was hired to develop the city as a resort community for the wealthy. Today, few original Mizner designed buildings exist in Boca Raton, but his fanciful Spanish Colonial style architecture still influences the city today. Boca Raton encompasses 30 square miles, has four miles of public beach, 44 miles of bike paths, and almost 1,500 acres of parks. Although Boca Raton is not a rugged extreme sport destination, it's more than a sleepy retiree community. Visitors to the city can take an Everglades air bout tour, go snorkeling at Red Reef Park, see sharks, sea turtles and a butterfly park at the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, golf, fish, swim, bike, go to the theater or the symphony, relax on the beach, stroll through a park or enjoy the upscale shopping and fine dining.
