List of Old Camping Tents by Kelty
Kelty has been in the camping gear business since 1952, and was one of the first companies to manufacture outdoor gear explicitly for civilian use. Their durable, flexible and lightweight tents have been especially popular over the years, and there are still plenty of old Kelty tents in use today. Buying a used Kelty tent is an inexpensive way to get a good piece of camping gear, but the problem with buying an old Kelty tent is that it is hard to get solid information about such discontinued product lines.

Quattro Tents

Kelty's Quattro 2 and Quattro 4 tents have a layered approach to the weather. The basic tent has mesh walls, making it perfect for hot conditions. The Quattro 2 is spacious enough that it can be considered a three-man tent in a pinch. The rainfly is bigger than normal, completely enclosing all but the bottom few inches of the tent. It also has a substantial eyebrow hanging over the tent entrance. However, that rainfly was sold as an accessory and did not come standard with the Quattro tents. If you are buying a Quattro 2 or 4 used, make sure it comes with that rainfly if you have even the slightest intention of camping in bad weather. Overall, the tent has good performance on sweltering summer days and chilly spring or autumn mornings, but it is not suitable for winter camping.

Pagoda Tents

The Pagoda 4 and 6 are ultralight, three-season dome tents. They are big enough for either backcountry base camp use or as a handy family tent. They have aluminum poles and color-coded clips to make setting the tent up easy. Both the 4 and 6 models have two entrances and three windows, as well as a huge mesh opening that stretches from the floor to the ceiling. The tents, therefore, have excellent ventilation, but need a rainfly to endure even mildly bad weather, which eliminates that superb ventilation. The rainfly is UV-resistant, so even well-used examples of these old tents should be in good condition.

Pagosa Tents

Kelty's Pagosa 2 and 4 were only recently discontinued, but it is already hard to find in the box and in stock anywhere. However, there are plenty of used examples available. Like the Quattro and Pagoda series, these are three-season tents. In both models, there is an overhead mesh skylight and windows on the front and back. The pair of doors are huge and set on both sides of the tent. It also has color-coded clips for easy pitching, as well as lightweight aluminum poles.
