Cooperstown, N.Y., remains one of the biggest tourist attractions for baseball fans around the world. The hometown of baseball inventor Abner Doubleday, this small upstate town houses the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, the shrine for the greatest to play the game. It especially becomes the place to be for baseball fans in August, when the players voted into the Hall of Fame that year become inducted. Old-fashioned bed-and-breakfasts make up most of the hotels here.

Otesaga Resort

Located off the shore of Blackbird Bay, the Otesaga Resort Hotel includes three restaurants and two lounges, two tennis courts, an exercise room and a heated outdoor pool. Rates (effective October 2009) vary, depending on the time of year, with late April and and early November being the cheapest ($320 to $485) and the summer months being the most expensive ($380 to $550).

Inn At Cooperstown

The Inn at Cooperstown is just a short walk from the Baseball Hall of Fame. The bed-and-breakfast style inn features suites, premium and standard rooms that include wireless Internet access and continental breakfasts. Rates can range from $98 to $260, but there are only 18 rooms.

Cooper Inn

The Cooper Inn is another small, bed-and-breakfast style inn near the Hall of Fame. It is limited to 15 rooms with five suites, but rooms include access to the facilities at the Otesaga Resort and the nearby Clark Sports Center. Rates range from $115 to $260 for one bedroom and $180 to $350 for two bedrooms.

Lake Front Motel‎

Lake Front Motel is located right along the Lake Ostego shore, just a block away from the Hall of Fame. It includes a restaurant with a clear view of the lake as well as a marina, boat tours and fishing. The 45 available rooms can range from $ 65 to $150 from November to April and can increase to between $138 and $199 from June to early September.
