Kaua'i, Hawaii's oldest Island, is a popular tourist destination for travelers looking for unwind and enjoy the tropical life. Aside from offering beautiful scenery and exciting activities, this island is also home to a lot of appetizing restaurants. From Japanese to American, and Italian to home cooked Hawiian, Kaua'i's restaraunts feature a wide variety of cuisines.

Wailua Marina Restaurant

The only restaurant on the island with a view of the Wailua river, the Wailua Marina restaurant has been serving its style of American cuisine to locals for more than forty years. The menu has over forty selections, including specialties like the island classic "steamed mullet" dish. But be forewarned: the portions in this moderately priced restaurant are known to be huge.

Dani's Restaurant

For diners looking for cheap, authentic Hawaiian food, Dani's Restaurant in Lihu'e is the place to be in Kaua'i. This modest eatery serves breakfast and lunch only, and cooks such token island dishes as "Laulau," or pork wrapped in taro and ti leaves, and "kalua pig," or slow roasted pig cooked in an underground oven. The restaurant also serves classic Japanese dishes, like tonkustu, or fried pork, as well as all-American New York Steaks.

Duke's Canoe Club

Located in the Kaua'i Marriot Resort and Beach Club, Duke's Canoe Club is a seafood restaurant named after local suffering legend Duke Kahanamoku. The walls of the restaurant are decorated with Duke's pictures and memorabilia. Diners can also enjoy the indoor garden and waterfall while tasting the variety of food Duke's has to offer, like fish tacos and cashew chicken. At night, diners are in for a treat, since the restaurant starts serving freshly prepared seafood.

Blossoming Lotus

The only vegan restaurant in Kaua'i, Blossoming Lotus offers much needed solace for vegetarians who are turned off by the Island's many meat-heavy eateries. The menu in Blossoming Lotus contains a variety of international vegan dishes, including curry tacos, baba ghanoush, springs rolls and enchilada casseroles. The restaurant also offers nightly entertainment and on Sundays, a brunch buffet.

Cafe Portofino

Offering diners authentic norther Italian cuisine, Cafe Portoinfo is known for its award-winning food and stunning views of the Kalapaki Bay. Like Dukes Canoe Club, Cafe Portofino Is located in the Kaua'i Marriort Resort and Beach Club. At night the restarant creates a soothing atomosphere with its live harp music, which allows diners to better enjoy their fresh 'ahi carpacco, scampi and veal or traditional tiramisu

Sushi Blues

A quaint and stylish second story restaurant, Sushi Blue is lined with pictures of mountains and waterfalls and historic Jazz musicians. While diners enjoy the interior decor, they can nibble on a wide range of Japanese cuisine, including steaks, specialty sushi and seafood dishes. The restaurant also has a full bar and sake menu, which goes well with the its nightly entertainment
