Hotels on Lake Travis in Austin

Hotels on Lake Travis in Austin
Lake Travis is one of the six highland lakes in the Texas Hill Country. These lakes were created by the Lower Colorado River Authority in the 1940s to control flooding and provide reservoirs for Central Texas. Lake Travis has 270 miles of shore, and 18,930 acres of surface area. There are communities all around the lake that have excellent hotels, including Lakeway on the south side of the lake and Lago Vista on the north side. The lake attracts fishermen, water skiers and party boats. And don't miss Hippie Hollow, the only clothing-optional beach in Texas, just be sure to cover the kids' eyes!

Lakeway Resort and Spa

This resort on the south side of Lake Travis has 173 nonsmoking rooms, suites and villas. Guests can choose a Hill Country or Lake Travis view room. The resort also has two presidential suites and three condo villas. The amenities include 32-inch flat screen LED televisions, high-speed wireless Internet and spacious desks.

If water recreation is your goal, the resort has a full-service marina. Here guests can arrange for private yachts, ski boat rentals with or without a driver, pontoon boats, jet skis and fishing excursions. In addition, the marina has boat slips for rental and a marine service center.

If you are a golfer, guests of the Lakeway Resort can play at any of four adjacent private golf courses.
