Fort Wayne, Indiana, named for American Revolutionary War General "Mad" Anthony Wayne, is home to acres of public parks and Fox Island, a prime location for summer hiking and birdwatching and winter cross-country skiing. The area also boasts numerous public golf courses and the Eagle Marsh Wetlands Project, a birding and nature preserve on the town's southwest side. Fort Wayne has many chain hotels located at major intersections of the two interstate highways, I-69 and I-469, but there are also downtown hotels near the new minor league baseball stadium and the Indiana-Purdue University branch campus.

Holiday Inn

The six-story Holiday Inn is located adjacent to the joint Indiana-Purdue University branch campus and serves as a teaching center for the school's new major in Hotel Management. The new hotel has a bar and restaurant on the main floor and offers breakfast as part of the room package. An indoor pool, fitness gym and spa are also located in the hotel complex. A small business center and conference and exhibit areas are available in the hotel, which is located directly opposite the county's major sports and entertainment venue, the Allen County Memorial Coliseum. All rooms include clock radios, coffee makers, hair dryers and high-definition cable television. Parking and Internet access are free. Small pets (under 80 lbs.) are welcomed at the hotel, but a small fee is charged for each animal.

Hyatt Place

The Hyatt Place hotel is a smoke-free hotel located in the northern area of the city. The usual Hyatt features, the Hyatt Grand Bed and large flat panel DHTV, are offered in each room. Complimentary services include daily continental breakfast, Wi-Fi service, a business center, on-site parking, shuttle service to major city attractions and an outdoor swimming pool. The hotel also offers round-the-clock room service and a hotel cafe that serves liquor and Starbucks coffee products. Packaged sandwiches and salads are available from the hotel cafe.

Hilton Fort Wayne

The Hilton Fort Wayne at the Grand Wayne Convention Center offers a fitness room and hotel pool. Large pets, up to 75 lbs., are allowed in the room with payment of a non-refundable pet service fee. The hotel also contracts with a kennel for boarding pets. Rooms are appointed with high-speed wireless Internet service, work desk, coffee maker, blow dryer and ironing board. The 1020 Bistro and Cut'z Restaurants are located on the hotel grounds and offer casual Continental and American fare, as well as a room service menu.

Worthington Mansion

The Worthington Mansion is currently the only city hotel using "green" hotel management, including water saving practices and eco-friendly cleaning products. The Worthington has only four rooms and is located near the new downtown Tin Caps minor league baseball stadium, the Botanical Conservatory and the Embassy Theatre. The Queen Anne style home constructed in 1888 has been restored to its former elegance and updated to include wireless Internet access. A guest library, art gallery and parlor are open for guest use. Hansom cabs are available to take guests on downtown tours. Self-guided neighborhood tours offer a list of properties on the National Register of Historic Places. Other features include evening gatherings, gourmet breakfast, down bedding and 600-count cotton sheets in each room.
