Mid-Continent International Airport, now commonly called the Kansas City International Airport, is located in the far northern portion of Kansas City, Missouri. For outdoor enthusiasts, the closest recreational area to the airport is located in Platte City, Missouri, six miles northwest of the airport. Platte City is home to the Platte Falls Conservation Area, which comprises 2,400 acres that include boat ramps on the Platte River and areas for hiking, fishing and hunting.
