Highlights of the Panama Canal Cruise

Highlights of the Panama Canal Cruise
Cruising can be an excellent way to combine a love of hiking new, adventurous ports with on-board luxury, gourmet food, fun activities and entertainment. Your sailing "city" docks in beautiful towns you can explore by kayak, ATV, zip line and on foot.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Once known as a simple banana port, your ship will dock in Ocho Rios, where you can ride horses on the beach, bobsled (like in the movie "Cool Runnings"), glide through the jungle on a canopy tour, tube down the river and more. Hike the Dunn's River Falls, a 600-foot climbable waterfall. With temperatures in this port ranging between the 70s and 90s all year, it is a perfect outdoor adventure city.

Cartenega, Colombia

A city rich in religion and history, Cartenega offers visitors a chance to explore a monastery, dungeons, churches and more. Meet animals and reptiles at the Villa-Babilla Reptile Sanctuary, hike through a fortress or shop for crafts. The city's temperatures remain in the 70s and 80s all year.

Manzanillo, Mexico

Water lovers will enthuse when the ship docks in Manzanillo. Known for its excellent sportfishing, the city also provides endless beaches and golf ranges. For the adventurous types, try an ATV exploration, catamaran and snorkel outing or take a Jeep off-roading. Temperatures remain in the low 70s to the 80s.

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Mild climates (upper 50s to 80 degrees) make the forests of Puntarenas perfect for hikers. Explore parks and biological reserves, ride horses, join a group hike through the forest, try the adventurous forest sky walk or breathe deeply in the scented Orchid Farm.

On-board Activities

A Panama Canal cruise offers much more than just port stops. Each night, a different Broadway-caliber show will entertain audiences (musicals, magic, revues) and the ship's many music venues will have feet tapping. One to two formal nights provide the opportunity to dress to the nines for the nightly gourmet multi-course meal. Hikers at sea will enjoy the top-level walking trail and fitness center on board.
