Farestart
Farestart's menu changes seasonally and features elegant "American favorites" and a variety of delicious sandwiches and salads. Farestart is more than a top restaurant though, it's a program that gives homeless and disadvantaged people the chance to learn cooking skills, placing them in restaurant jobs. All proceeds from Farestart's lunch and Thursday night meals go directly to the Farestart program, so you can fill your stomach while helping others fill theirs.

Salumi
For real meat, diners can hit downtown Seattle's Salumi, which draws on Italian Salumeria concepts to cure high-quality artisan and gourmet meats. The restaurant is a retail storefront for Salumi's meats, and also sells soups, sandwiches and weekly specials. Restaurant hours are only 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, so diners should make a stop during their morning shopping trip to Pike's Place on the way to the ferry docks for an afternoon ride.
