The Oglethorpe County Seat about 70 miles east of Atlanta, Lexington has preserved the 19th-century small-town Georgia way of life well enough to earn protection on the National Historic Register. Outdoor enthusiast will love neighboring Shaking Rocks State Park and the Oconee National Forest.

While Lexington has no hotels, visitors can stay at nearby Watkinsville or the university town of Athens, about 30 minutes away.

Ashford Manor Bed and Breakfast

Built in 1893, Watkinsville's Victorian Ashford Manor nestles in 4 acres of terraced gardens descending to a private pool, woods, and creek. The garden gazebo and plenty of secluded nooks complete with garden benches provide guests with relaxing spots to soak up the sun and surroundings.
