Pachira Lodge
Pachira Lodge is five minutes from Tortuguero National Park, in the northeast quarter of Costa Rica. This lodge features a 34-acre park. The tour picks you up in San Jose, drives you through the Baraulio Carrillo National Park, a primary forest. You will stop on your way at a banana processing plant and have breakfast. Then you board a comfortable boat to travel up the Tortugero canals and arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. The canals are an extensive system of natural and man-made waterways used both for simple transportation and jungle exploration. Traveling through the canals is a fascinating experience rich in wildlife that includes monkeys, iguanas and colorful tropical birds. Once here you can visit the beach, the museum and the town. After dinner, you can take a night walk on the beach and if it is in season, July through September, you can watch the green turtles nest. The following day you can tour more of the canals and see the amazing variety of flora and fauna. You get back to San Jose by late afternoon.
