Kuta, or Kute, on Lombok, a small island in the West Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia, is well-known among tourists for its beautiful beaches. Due to years of religious and ethnic unrest on the island, tourism has dwindled since the mid-1990s, but as of 2008, that pattern is turning around. New hotels and other attractions are being added and tourism efforts have increased. Lombok appears ready to experience a tourism boom and has prepared by establishing several top-end hotels for its visitors.

The Novotel Coralia Lombok

A four-star luxury resort on the southern shore of Lombok, the Novotel Coralia is an hour from the airport and ideal for a relaxing beach vacation. Rooms are modern and spacious with one king or two single beds. Along with Internet access, each room has en suite bath and shower, a sofa and work area. Upgrading to a bungalow or apartment gives you a private pool and the option of a private garden terrace. All rooms are air-conditioned and have satellite television. There are four swimming pools, two restaurants and a lagoon. Activities are focused on the water: swimming, boating and snorkeling. There's also a kids club for younger visitors. Tastura Boutique Resort is a three-star complex with a central location, spacious guest rooms and conference facilities. Rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with satellite televisions. Kuta Indah Hotel

A smaller hotel with a convenient location and modern amenities, the Kuta Indah sits directly on the white sands of Kuta Beach. The hotel offers 36 standard rooms and two deluxe suites, all with an en-suite bath and shower. Each room is air-conditioned and has a television, mini-bar and telephone. The grounds offer two outdoor swimming pools, one for adults, equipped with bar; the other is for kids. A restaurant, coffee shop and bar are available at the hotel. Plenty of activities are offered on the grounds and nearby. Swimming, snorkeling and sailing are popular at the beach, and there are several areas for hiking, jogging and fishing.
