The Cashel Palace Hotel at the base of the Rock of Cashel is situated in one of Ireland's most notable eighteenth century Queen Anne houses. During its remarkable history, the Hotel served as a home for the Archbishops of Ireland. During the 1740s, the Archbishop's steward Richard Guinness planted hops to brew beer for the laborers. Guinness' son Arthur used the descendants of those hops to establish the Guinness brewery in 1759.
