Top 10 Delhi Night Clubs

Top 10 Delhi Night Clubs
Clubbing in India is an activity limited to the upper class, expatriates and foreign tourists. In New Delhi, what's hot and what's not can change overnight, but the majority of night clubs are found in the city's luxurious five-star hotels. Dress to impress, and call ahead to see if singles are admitted. Some clubs are couples only, and others may deny entry if you don't dress the part. Friday and Saturday nights offer the most options for dancing the night away, but some clubs have mid-week DJ dance parties or theme nights. Drinking and dancing are not cheap in Delhi, so bring plenty of cash and a credit card. Most clubs are located in central Delhi, near the diplomatic enclave, or in the city's southern suburbs. Delhi, set up like a large sprawling village, can be tough to negotiate for the newcomer. Check out a map to orient yourself here: http://www.mapsofindia.com/delhi.

Agni

The Park Hotel's bar and club boasts that it is "the most talked about and happening night club of the city." Agni is located in Connaught Place, one of the city's most vibrant and congested business districts. Connaught Place offers a variety of mid-range hotels catering to foreigners.

Djinns

The Hyatt Regency night club Djinns is a kitsch-filled locale, decked out in 1980s American rock and roll décor. Djinns has a pub, pool tables and a dance floor. The hotel is located just southwest of central Delhi along Ring Road, not far from Sarojini Nagar shopping area.

Delhi's Devils

Sticking with the devil theme--djinn is the local word of devil or demon--this night club in the posh suburbs of South Extension often has theme nights--such as ladies' nights and salsa nights. South of the city center, Delhi's Devils' proximity to the upscale Defence Colony makes it a hoppin' place.

Dublin

Get a taste of Ireland at the Maurya Sheraton Hotel & Towers. The Sheraton and its five-star pub are in the city's diplomatic enclave on the western edge of central Delhi. The wide, tree-lined streets there are a different world compared to the chaotic and crowded narrow lanes of Old Delhi.

My Kind of Place

A favorite with expatriates, the Taj's Palace's night club tends to draw a crowd on Friday and Saturday nights. My Kind of Place is in Sardar Patel Marg on the western outskirts of central Delhi, not far from the diplomatic enclave.

Amigo

Looking for some ancient Mayan cuisine and Mexican-inspired dance nights? Head over to Amigo restaurant near Masjid Moth in Greater Kailash II, a chic suburb south of the Outer Ring Road. Not every night is a dance night, but the club does theme nights and has host DJs. Call ahead, as this place is a long rickshaw ride from central Delhi.

Annabelle's

Another club at a one of the city's elite hotels, Annabelle's can be found within the Intercontinental Hotel at Nehru Place. Annabelle's is another hot spot in Delhi's posh southern suburbs. Take the train from Okhla station to Nehru Place station, or travel along the Outer Ring Road to the southwestern part of the city.

Float

Also located at Nehru Place, the Park Royal's night club and bar Float has a fairly large dance floor.

Other Side / Turquoise Cottage

This Asian restaurant in Basant Lok Market has a clubbing scene popular with young locals and tourists. It's an alternative to the five-star hotel scene in the southwestern suburbs.

Chaskah

Located in Rajouri Garden, the Jaykara Hotel's night club Chaskah is not as exclusive as some of the others in the city. The club is west of Connaught Place and Paharganj, far from the five-star district and exclusive southern suburbs.
