Asheville, North Carolina rests in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains and has become an attractive city for arts and culture, as well as a gateway for endless recreational opportunities. Along with the usual cycling, climbing and rafting, you can also check out a canopy tour, witnessing the forest from the tree tops on rope bridges and zip lines, or take a trip with members of the East Band of the Cherokee Indians who offer tours highlighting places of cultural significance.

Hotel amenities at the Courtyard by Marriott include a business center and meeting space, convenience store, fitness center with an indoor pool and a landscaped area for relaxing while taking in views of the Smoky Mountains. The hotel is within four miles of the Asheville Municipal and Beaver Lake Golf Courses and the Asheville Recreation Park. It is also walking distance to dozens of restaurants and Asheville's cultural center of art galleries, music and theater.

Princess Anne Hotel

The Princess Anne offers 16 uniquely decorated rooms that look over the property gardens. The Howard Johnson is located within walking distance of downtown Asheville and is two blocks from the Biltmore Estate, where you can take hike or bike ride at the Biltmore Outdoor Center. The French Broad River, also within walking distance, offers river rafting, swimming and fishing. Motel 6

This budget motel allows kids to stay for free and welcomes pets. Non-smoking rooms are available and you can access the Internet with a nominal daily fee. The Motel 6 has an outdoor pool and non-smoking rooms upon request. Restaurants are located within a mile of the motel and the Western N.C. Nature Center is two miles away. The Motel 6 is located within 12 miles of boating, swimming and picnicking at Lake Julian Park.

The Super 8 is located two miles from the downtown area but several restaurants and the Asheville Mall are within walking distance. Free breakfast is offered here, along with Internet access. Pets are welcome and truck and bus parking is available on-site. The Super 8 is a 15-minute drive from Lake Julian Park which offers sailing, canoeing and fishing for all ages and abilities.
