Arizona Ghost Town Hotels

Arizona Ghost Town Hotels
Ghost towns are scattered all over Arizona, there are about 275 of them in the state alone. These towns were once bustling communities during the time gold was struck in the backcountry of Arizona. They thrived in the shadow of the mining operations in the nearby areas. These towns were complete with saloons, jails, brothels and boarding houses. When the mines dried up, these towns were left abandoned in the Arizona sun. Some of these ghost towns have rebuilt themselves as tourist attractions with modern accommodations.

Jerome Grand Hotel

The five story building of the Jerome Grand Hotel was once a hospital that supported the mine. The Spanish mission style was constructed in 1926. It was closed in the 1950s as the mining operation ceased in the area. It sat vacant for 44 years before it was bought, restored and converted into a hotel by the new owners. There are many reports of supernatural activities from the guests of the hotel.

The Jerome Grand Hotel has accommodations ranging from standard rooms to suites. All rooms are furnished with queen beds and private baths as well as satellite TV and antique telephones. The hotel also has an elevator for the convenience of the guests. Being the tallest building in the area, the views from the hotel are magnificent. They also offer a ghost hunting tour as a hotel package. A guide will take guests through the entire hotel looking for paranormal activity. Staying at the Jerome Grand Hotel will definitely not be boring.

Oatman Hotel

The Oatman Hotel previously called the Drulin Hotel was built in 1902. It did a brisk business to the miners in the area. The haunted Oatman Hotel is still in operation today in the living ghost town of Oatman. It is one of its greatest attractions as talk of its mischievous ghosts has spread far and wide.

There are some reports that the ghosts of Clark Gable and Carole Lombard roam the place. They spent their honeymoon in the hotel and supposedly had so many fond memories of the place that their ghosts refuse to leave. Apart from Clark and Carole, there are other spirits supposedly haunting the place. The Oatman Hotel is listed in the National Historical Building Registry.

Ghost City Inn

The Ghost City Inn was originally built around 1890 as a boarding house for mine management. It underwent a major restoration in 1994 and 2001. Each room in the inn is special and inviting with its own unique theme, from Victorian elegance to the rustic feel of a cabin. The Inn has retained its uneven floors and original ceilings.

All rooms have private bathrooms, TV/VCRs, ceiling fans as well as air-conditioning. Rates include a hearty breakfast served in the drawing room filled with antiques or on the back patio next to a rock waterfall. The Ghost City Inn is a very inviting and cozy place to stay.
