Willard InterContinental
The historic Willard is two blocks down the street from the White House. One of the legends surrounding the hotel is that Ulysses S. Grant liked to stop by for a drink and a cigar in the lobby, and the habit attracted favor-seekers who were dubbed "lobbyists." Although the term lobbyist predates the Willard, Grant and the favor-seekers were undoubtedly there, as were many other famous people and historic events. All of the 332 rooms have WiFi access, and the hotel has a spa. There is a cafe, bar and a daily afternoon tea held in Peacock Alley.

The Watergate
The Watergate is larger than just the hotel. It is an entire hotel, residential and office complex in the Foggy Bottom district. It sits on the banks of the Potomac River, near the U.S. State Department. It is famous as the site of the Democratic Party Headquarter break-in that eventually led to the downfall of President Richard Nixon in 1974. In 2009, the Watergate underwent extensive renovations.

Hay Adams Hotel
The Hay Adams is directly across Lafayette Square from the White House and occupies the same space as the former home of John Hay (secretary to Lincoln) and Henry Adams (descended from two U.S. presidents). It also sits across the street from St. John's Episcopal Church, sometimes also known as the Church of the Presidents because so many sitting presidents choose to attend Sunday services there. Each room has WiFi access, a Bose CD player and a bathroom finished in marble. The facilities include the Lafayette Restaurant and the Off the Record bar. In 2009, it was dubbed "Most Excellent Hotel in the United States and Canada" by Conde Nast Johansens.
