Edmonton may not be the first city that comes to mind when picturing a happening nightlife. But contrary to what you may think, Edmonton has many hip hot spots to see when work gets out. There's everything from blue collar pubs to chic cocktail lounges--you just have to know where to look.
Blues on Whyte
In southeast Edmonton, there's an historic hotel called Commercial Hotel. It's located on the swinging street of Whyte Avenue, and there's a couple of rooms inside that are open to the public. The first is a bar/pub type place where you can have some drinks, shoot some pool and hang out with friends. The next room is where you'll find Blues on Whyte. It's Edmonton's hippest blues club that features live music seven nights a week. And on Saturday afternoons, they feature a five-and-a-half-hour jam with alternating musicians from 3:00 to 8:30 p.m. Best of all, there's no cover charge.

Suede Lounge
Voted one of Canada's top 100 dining experience by "Canada Wine Access Magazine," Suede Lounge is classy all the way. They feature an extensive wine menu, a gourmet dinner menu, and live DJs on Friday and Saturday nights. So put on your best pumps, head downtown and check out Edmonton's trendiest hot spot.

Devlin's Cocktail Lounge
If you're looking to kick your evening off or wind it down, stop by Devlin's Cocktail Lounge. It's also located on Whyte Avenue downtown. But unlike many other lounges, Devlin's is a more laid-back atmosphere where you can either relax and unwind, or start pre-gaming before you head out onto the town. Their menu consists mostly of different martinis (their specialty) and other alcoholic beverages, but they've also got flatbreads, mini gourmet burgers and delectable seafood entrees.

Halo
If you're more of a rocker, check out Halo in downtown Edmonton. While this isn't quite a live band venue, it's an amazing nightclub that features one of Edmonton's most unique dance nights: Mod Club Fridays, when Djs Blue Jay and Travy D spin indie rock, new wave, Brit-pop, and 1960s club music.
