Davao, the Philippines' ninth-largest city, offers myriad activities for the outdoor enthusiast. Try hiking Mount Apo, the Philippines' highest mountain. Davao is at the mountain's base. The Marco Polo Hotel

The Marco Polo Hotel is in Davao's business district and a 20-minute drive from Davao International Airport. The hotel has a fee-based shuttle service. The 245 rooms have views of Mount Apo or the Gulf of Davao. Room amenities include a modem port, cable service on LCD TVs, mini bars, safes, coffee and tea makers, large desks and free Internet access. Continental and Cabana suites and rooms have an iPod dock and flatscreen computer. The Deck on the fourth floor has an outdoor lap pool, fitness center and the Lazuli Spa, with full spa services, and headsets and LCD TVs in the workout room. The Cafe Marco has a huge buffet with foods from around the world. Lotus Court serves Cantonese cuisine and fresh seafood. The Eagles bar has leather seating and wood paneling. High tea, drinks and international cuisine are the highlights of the Lobby Lounge. Polo Bistro Pool lounge serves a la carte food.

Casa Leticia

Casa Leticia has 41 rooms and seven suites. It's across the street from a park, and a mall is within easy walking distance. All rooms include breakfast, free wireless Internet service, a mini bar, air conditioning, in-room tea and coffee, and free newspapers. Deluxe rooms have a balcony; suites have bathtub extension phones. The Presidential Suite has bathrobes and an aquarium headboard over the king-sized bed. Conference rooms are available. The Sagay restaurant features international foods and local Ilonggo cuisine, which has seafood as most of its main courses and uses few garnishes or sauces. The hotel also has a coffee shop.

Oases Garden Resort and Restaurant

The Oases Garden Resort and Restaurant sits on nearly 4 acres of beautifully landscaped property in the middle of Davao city. The Ritz Garden Hotel (no connection to the Ritz chain) is a full-fledged resort, with facilities for weddings and other events, billiards, a playground and miniature golf course. Lush tropical plantings surround the swimming pool area. Room amenities include air conditioning, cable TV and Internet access. This small hotel has 21 rooms and suites. Guests may use the fax and copying services. Currency exchange and car rentals are available. The Oases Seafood restaurant serves international and local dishes a la carte and in a buffet.
