Your Las Vegas vacation doesn't need to be limited to the Strip. Venture to the part of town known as "Old Vegas," which features historic hotels, cheaper buy-ins and comfortable rooms without all the hype. Main Street Station Hotel, Casino and Brewery

Main Street Station is a historic hotel, casino and brewery in downtown Las Vegas with an elaborate Victorian train station theme. The hotel features a walk-through tour of antique artifacts like a piece of the Berlin Wall and chandeliers from the Figaro Opera House. The hotel features comfortable, clean rooms that are reasonably priced and a quick walk away from the Main Street Station's casino and buffet. The buffet features a champagne brunch on the weekends, and the casino has some older slot machines that still pay out in quarters.

Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino

The Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino was built in 1946, making it one of the oldest hotels in Las Vegas. It is owned by Steve Wynn, who owns five other hotels in Las Vegas. The Golden Nugget features seven restaurants, including a buffet with a champagne brunch on the weekends. In addition to the casino, the Golden Nugget has a spa, a salon, several retail stores, tours to the Hoover Dam and a children's arcade. The Golden Nugget has the distinguished Four Diamond rating from AAA, which as of 2009, it has held since 1977.

Golden Gate Hotel and Casino

The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino is a part of the Freemont Street Experience, a covered mall in the heart of downtown Las Vegas. The Golden Gate Hotel opened in 1906 under the name "The Hotel Nevada," but was renamed the Golden Gate Hotel in 1955. The Golden Gate Hotel originated the 50-cent shrimp cocktail, which became a popular Las Vegas item. The price of the shrimp cocktail has gone up over time, but the Golden Gate is still popular for its inexpensive shrimp and other seafood cocktails. The Golden Gate Hotel has only 106 rooms, which makes it the smallest hotel in the Freemont Street Experience.
