Pigeon Forge, Tenn., is 35 miles southeast of Knoxville and less than 15 miles from the northwest edge of Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The Appalachian Trail runs through the edge of the park from southwest to northeast, just a few miles from the park's northern border. Pigeon Forge is also home to Dollywood, Dolly Parton's amusement park.
