If you enjoy gambling but find the Las Vegas scene a little hectic, Biloxi, Mississippi, might be a good spot to check out. This city of approximately 51,000 people lies about 90 miles northeast of New Orleans, Louisiana, and 65 miles southwest of Mobile, Alabama, off interstate 10. The south side of Biloxi faces Mississippi Sound, which in turn drains into the Gulf of Mexico. Biloxi is home to many casinos, the majority of which are close to, or on, the beach. Several are resorts, with luxury hotels, restaurants, spas and even on-site golf courses you can patronize when you get tired of playing blackjack or the slots.

Isle of Capri Casino Resort‎ is right on the point where Biloxi Bay empties into the Gulf of Mexico. The casino offers all manner of gaming possibilities, including slots, poker and blackjack. The resort has two restaurants, one a fine-dining establishment and the second a buffet restaurant, plus a food court, a Starbuck's coffee shop and a bar. Boomtown Casino is on the Back Bay, facing north toward the city. The exterior of the casino resembles a Wild West movie set. Gaming options include video and live poker, slots, craps and roulette. Boomtown has two restaurants: a buffet and a 24-hour grill and bakery. There's a free parking lot.
