Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose
The Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose offers a fun and educational activity that both parents and kids can both enjoy. The Waterways exhibit teaches children about the importance of water in our daily lives and why conservation is important. Other hands-on exhibits allow children to interact while learning about science, nature and art. Live entertainment and music is performed at the museum's on-site theater. The museum is closed on Mondays. The park is located near the Guadalupe River Park.

The City of San Jose operates over 100 public parks and recreation areas. Townsend Park is a popular park for families with its extensive playground, open fields for picnicking and trails for jogging. The tree-lined, paved Los Gatos Creek Trail near downtown is a good place to roller blade, go on bike rides or to just take the kids on a walk through the woods. And just east of downtown, Alum Rock Park is a more primitive park with picnicking areas, playgrounds, thick forests, and unpaved nature trails.

California Kids Sports Center
As part of the larger CSC chain local to the San Jose area, the California Kids Sports Center has two facilities that put an extra emphasis on children's activities for preschool-aged kids. Programs emphasize on the development of a healthy body through fun types of exercise including dance, gymnastics, stretching and tumbling. Other CSC facilities gear activities towards older children. The California Kids Sports Centers are open everyday except Sunday.
