List of Florida Airports

List of Florida Airports
As one of the top vacation destinations in the world, Florida not only offers world-class theme parks, but also a great range of activities for those who love the outdoors. The Gulf and Atlantic coasts offer sandy beaches, saltwater fishing and diving. The theme parks, freshwater fishing and hunting can all be found inland. Hiking and camping are available throughout the state. The choice among Florida airports often depends on where you plan on staying, what you want to do and, to a certain extent, where you are coming from.

Miami International Airport

As far as international traffic goes, this is one of the busiest airports in the world. Much of the international traffic coming into Miami is from Europe or Central and South America, but there are flights from other continents, as well as a brisk domestic business. All the major airlines service the Miami terminal, going to hundreds of destinations. A hotel, aptly named the Miami International Airport Hotel, restaurants and shops are available on-site. This airport is close to the ocean and upper keys.

Orlando International Airport

The Orlando International Airport is also one of the busiest airports in the world, both in terms of international and domestic air traffic. The airport hosts all the major airlines and many of the car rental agencies, such as Hertz, Avis and Budget, are on the airport's property. In addition, there is a full-service hotel, The Hyatt Airport Regency, restaurants and many shops. The airport is located 10 miles southeast of downtown Orlando and 15 miles east of major attractions. The area is also marked with some of the best bass fishing lakes in the nation.

Tampa International Airport

The Tampa International Airport is also one of the major airports in the state. It is located along the state's west coast, approximately 90 miles by car from Orlando. The Tampa Airport Marriott is located at the northern end of the main terminal, between airside terminals C and D. It is one of the closest airports to areas such as Sarasota, Clearwater and St. Petersburg, where offshore fishing and diving are popular activities.

Jacksonville International Airport

One of the other major airports is located near the border of north Florida on the Atlantic coast. Jacksonville serves as a convenient airport of choice for both northern Florida and southern Georgia. It is serviced by all the major airlines and car rental companies. There are two hotels on the property. The first is the Clarion Hotel Airport Conference Center located at 2101 Dixie Clipper Road. A Microtel Inn & Suites, located at 13200 International Airport Boulevard, is also available.

Southwest Florida International Airport

The Southwest Florida International Airport is one of the smallest international airports in the state. It mainly serves the Fort Myers and Naples area, which is a hot spot of activity, especially for winter travelers looking for a relaxing break from the cold. On one side of the airport is the Gulf coast and on the other side is the Florida Everglades, both offering plenty of activities for the outdoors enthusiast. The airport is serviced by many of the major airlines, with its top five being Delta, Southwest, AirTran, JetBlue and US Airways. Unlike the larger airports, there is no hotel on the premises.
