Water parks are a popular family vacation destination, and water park hotels mean the fun can be experienced year-round. The Kansas City metro area has four major water parks, two of which are indoors. All are in or near hotels.

Great Wolf Lodge

Great Wolf Lodge was the first of the indoor water park to open in the Kansas City area. Located in Kansas City, Kansas, near the Kansas Speedway, the Great Wolf Lodge is a popular destination for tourists in the area. The water park offers a 336-foot raft slide named the Howlin' Wolf, a four-story water fort named Fort Mackenzie, and the Cub Paw Pool for younger kids. Non-water activities include an arcade, fitness room and a full spa.

The hotel offers several luxury suites that range from four- to eight-person occupancy, but it often books up during races at the Kansas Speedway. Great Wolf Lodge's water park is operates year-round. Day passes to the water park are available, and water passes are available to families that stay in the lodge overnight.

CocoKey Sheraton

CocoKey is near the Sports Complex, which houses the stadiums for the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. The 55,000-square-foot water park boasts a wading pool for small children, two activity pools and three exciting raft slides. Other activities include shopping, restaurants and a full-sized arcade.

Offering standard hotel rooms and large family suites, CocoKey is a versatile destination for families and adults. CocoKey offers a day pass to for families that wish to play in the park without staying in the hotel.

Schlitterbahn Vacation Village

Located in Kansas City, Kansas, near Legends Shopping Center, Schlitterbahn Vacation Village offers an indoor and outdoor water park. The outdoor park offers a water roller coaster, an inner-tube slide, a wave pool with tide beach and an activity center for smaller children. The Vacation Village offers waterfront cabins that can be reserved together for gatherings and Treehaus rooms that are smaller, individual rooms.

Schlitterbahn Vacation Village offers dining and shopping within the village and is near one of the biggest shopping areas in the Kansas City metro area. The indoor water park operates year-round, and the outdoor park is open from late spring to early fall. Schlitterbahn Vacation Village offers season passes, vacation packages and day passes.
