List of Airports in North Carolina
North Carolina, the "Tar Heel" state, is home to the Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville's elegant Biltmore Estate, the trails and majestic beauty of the Blue Ridge Parkway, the dramatic rock formations at Chimney Rock and Hanging Rock State Parks, and the sweeping dunes of the Outer Banks along the Atlantic Coast. North Carolina also boasts a number of commercial centers, such as Charlotte, and educational hubs, such as the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. Getting to any of these sites is relatively easy given North Carolina's number of airports, several of which are airline hubs.

Asheville Regional Airport

The Asheville Regional Airport, about 10 miles south of Asheville, opened in 1961 and is served by five airlines--AirTran, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, US Airways and Northwest Airlines. The airport also hosts five rental car companies and visitors can obtain taxis and limousine transfers outside of the baggage claim area. The Asheville vicinity is home to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mount Mitchell, Pisgah Forest and Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
