Tortilla Flats
Saddle up and mosey on down to Tortilla Flats in Greenwich Village. One of the more entertaining Tex-Mex restaurants in Manhattan, Tortilla Flats is known for its relaxed vibe, odd events and tasty menu. Those needing something more than just a meal will feel right at home during hula-hoop Wednesdays, when otherwise mature adults swivel their hips in an eye-opening display of physical prowess. Make a reservation and experience the joy of winning the jackpot during Monday and Tuesday night bingo, or just perform any strange trick, tick or charm on Fun-Day Sunday. A good juke box often brings guests to their feet somewhere between dinner and dessert to dance in the aisles. Though big on meat, Tortilla Flats does offer a few vegetarian options, and guests can walk off the fat afterward with a stroll or bike ride along along the Westside Greenway Path, which is just a few blocks west. Nearby Metro Bicycles offers rentals.

Jekyll and Hyde Club
Eat with the creeps at midtown's Jekyll and Hyde Club. For those who don't mind cadavers with their meals, this Gothic-designed restaurant is good for a laugh. Patrons are seated amid numerous electronically animated creatures that cling to the walls while spooky sound and chatter floats in and out. Set decorations are detailed and not unlike those found in amusement parks. Actors work both as servers and characters in such roles as Mr. Goole, Ezra Von Gloome and the eerie butler, Hives. Performances often occur table side, and people with kids should expect extra attention. When the tab is cleared up, walk north a couple of blocks for the relative peace and quiet of Central Park, Manhattan's largest green space. Ball fields, running and bicycle paths, volleyball courts and large open grassy areas make the day a little sweeter.
