Best Hotels on Maryland's Eastern Shore
The Eastern Shore of Maryland is a great place to go for an outdoors getaway. The Bay and its tributaries and marshes offer plenty of room for sailors, fishermen and kayakers, while the backcountry is perfect for cyclists. However, just because you are out to enjoy the great outdoors does not necessarily mean you want to camp out as well. For those who don't want to rough it, the Eastern Shore offers plenty of great hotels.

The Inn at Perry Cabin

This place is best described as a bed and breakfast-cum-resort. Located in the scenic village of St. Michaels, the main building is set in a Victorian manor set on the shores of a Chesapeake inlet. They have an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, wellness spa and complimentary bicycles. All rooms come with Wi-Fi, and the inn is pet-friendly. The grounds include a number of private gardens, as well as the inn's own pier for boat docking. There is a restaurant, pub and the inn serves afternoon tea. The nightly turndown includes delivery of fresh-baked cookies, and many rooms have a fireplace and/or claw-footed bathtub.

Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay

This member of the Hyatt chain is a combined golf resort and marina. Each of its 400 rooms has a spacious work area, refrigerator, free Wi-Fi access and a balcony. There are six restaurants and a library-style pub. The resort includes a golf course, an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts and beach volleyball on the Bay. The grounds include their own nature reserve with walking trails, and the marina rents kayaks, canoes and sailboats. Even for the outdoors enthusiast, this is the kind of resort where you can spend the weekend and never need leave the embrace of the hotel.

Robert Morris Inn

Oxford's Robert Morris Inn includes two accommodations options. First is the main inn itself, a historic building that dates back to 1710 that was owned by its namesake Robert Morris, a founding father and the financier of the revolution. The inn is a lovely, small 14-room hotel offering a classically appointed decor and atmosphere. Across the road, the Inn owns the Sandaway Lodge, a Victorian manor that has been converted to guest rooms. The grounds also include a small, private cottage. Guests at the Inn also enjoy the run of the Sandaways pleasant waterfront lawn.

John S. McDaniel House

Set in Easton, this Eastern Shore bed and breakfast is set in a good point for exploring either the waterfront scenery of the Bay or heading to Assateague Island and the Atlantic coast. Set in a Victorian mansion dating to 1865, all the rooms are appointed in a lovely, antique fashion that matches the cozy, friendly feel. There are only six rooms, and before you leave you are likely to be on a first name basis with the owner-operator.
