Robert Morris Inn
The Robert Morris Inn dates back to 1710, and was once owned by the founding father Robert Morris, the de facto chief of finance for the American Revolution. The menu is based on shellfish, with a few fresh fish, meat and chicken entrees to round it out. However, unlike so many places on the Eastern Shore, this is not a steamer house. The restaurant is appointed in a decor that suits the colonial origins of the building, making it a quiet, lovely place to get a good meal. Be sure to try the crab cakes, which have earned a great deal of applause over the years. Novelist James Michener described the inn's crab cakes as the best on the Eastern Shore, while Frommer's rates the restaurant as exceptional.

Harris Crab House
Harris Crab House is a classic Eastern Shore steamer, a place that specializes in serving great mounds of steamed shellfish. The restaurant is situated on the waterfront of the Kent Narrows, just down the road from the Bay Bridge. If the classic Maryland pile of crabs smothered in Old Bay is what you are looking for, this is the place to go. It also serves mussels, clams, shrimp, crab cakes, oysters, lobster, steaks, burgers, and more. It is both scenic and in just the right place for a lunch stop on the way into the Eastern Shore, or a dinner stop on the way out.

Suicide Bridge Restaurant
Suicide Bridge Restaurant enjoys a strong local reputation, and is something of an Eastern Shore secret. It is set a little back from the Chesapeake Bay, but it is still close to the water as it sits alongside the Choptank River. It derives its name from the nearby bridge, the site of three suicides over the years. The catch of the day features a variety of fish, most served stuffed with crab imperial. There are also the standards of Eastern Shore seafood restaurants--mounds of steamed crabs, raw or fried oysters and shrimp, plus steaks and chicken for those who want the company but not the seafood. The oysters on the half shell in particular are excellent and cheap when they are in season, which is September through April.
