Keen Pyrenees Waterproof Hiking Boots - Kids'

The kids' Keen Pyrenees waterproof hiking boots provide the classic hiker look with modern fit and waterproof, breathable protection, keeping their little feet happy as they explore trails. Nubuck leather uppers are durable and flexible for comfort on the go; waterproof, breathable membranes protect feet from the elements. Patented rubber toe guards protect feet from scuffs, bumps and uneven terrain; metal eyelets and speed hooks provide adult-size lacing ease and dependablility. Nylon linings absorb and disperse excess moisture within boots, enhancing comfort. EVA midsoles deliver cushioning and light arch support for all-day comfort. Keen Pyrenees boots feature lugged rubber outsoles supplying excellent all-around traction.

Comfortable but not waterproof

I bought these for my son shortly after the beginning of 3rd grade, he'd lived in Keen Newports all summer long and wasn't thrilled with the idea of trading them in to wear closed shoes to school once the weather began cooling. We both liked the idea of waterproof comfort for fall rainy weather and beyond.My son reported the boots were comfortable from the get go and they were indeed waterproof for awhile. However, as the weather got wetter, so did his boots and eventually his socks.Now since I'm not actually the one wearing the boots it's hard for me to establish whether they've met the saturation point, if he isn't lacing tight enough (doesn't seem to be the problem) or what exactly is going on. What I do know is the boy's feet get soaked and we were both hoping to avoid that.He still insists on wearing the boots, though, because he likes the look and comfort. So points for that but alas, I couldn't recommend them to a friend seeking *waterproof* boots.
