How to Apply for an Egyptian Visa

How to Apply for an Egyptian Visa
Lots of adventure travelers have Egypt on their list of countries they would like to visit. You can't go just anywhere to see such amazing sites as the Pyramids at Giza and the Sphinx. Americans who wish to travel to Egypt must have a tourist visa. Usually, you can obtain one when you arrive in Egypt and do not need to make application beforehand. In fact, most Egyptian airlines keep applications on board. However, if you'd like to apply for your Egyptian visa ahead of time, you are able to do so. It's a good idea if you don't plan to arrive through a major port of entry.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • U.S. passport Money order Passport-sized photo Application
  • U.S. passport
  • Money order

  • Application
Step 1
Download the Egyptian visa application using the link in the Resources section. Make sure you download both pages.
Step 2
Open the forms in a graphics editing program and type in your information or print out the forms and fill them out manually.
Step 3
Have a 2-inch by 2-inch photo taken of yourself that is similar to a passport photo. It should show only your shoulders and above and have a neutral background. Do not wear a hat or sunglasses in this picture. Glue or staple it to page one of the application.
Step 4
Bring a current U.S. passport that is valid for at least six more months, cash or a money order for the fee and your application form to your nearest Egyptian Consulate. If there is no Egyptian Consulate convenient to you, mail your application, passport and money order to the consulate that covers your state via certified mail. (See Resources for more information on your consulate.) Include a self addressed and stamped envelope so that the consulate can return your passport to you once the visa is inserted.
