How to Plan a Cheap Orlando Vacation

How to Plan a Cheap Orlando Vacation
Orlando, Florida, has some of the most popular theme parks in the world. Orlando's nightlife is also thriving, not to mention that there are gorgeous beaches only a short drive away. Unfortunately, a vacation in Orlando can be expensive. There are a few tips and tricks to offset the cost of your Orlando vacation. Planning is the key.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step 1
Plan ahead. Write down exactly what you want to do and where you want to visit while in Orlando. Sticking to this list will help you avoid surprise expenses.
Step 2
Visit Orlando during off season. September through November and January through April are considered off season. Hotels are discounted during this time.
Step 3
Stay in a family suite rather than a traditional hotel room. Family suites usually offer several bedrooms and a full working kitchen. While no one wants to cook when on vacation, preparing your own meals may save you hundreds of dollars a day.
Step 4
Flying late at night or early in the morning and being willing to accept layovers and connection flights greatly enhances your ability to get lower airfare.
Step 5
Ask for discounts before booking your hotel and travel or buying theme park tickets. Military, senior, students and groups often receive discounts.
Step 6
Prepare your budget. Plan exactly what you want to do and how much it will cost. Don't forget to add things such as the price of a shuttle to and from your hotel, stroller rental, tips, souvenirs and a general incidental budget. Knowing what you can spend ahead of time and on what helps you stick to your budget.
Step 7
Sign up to visit a time share. Some time share programs offer free tickets to theme parks and shows in the Orlando area. You have to sit through a few hours of presentations for the time share, but you should be at no obligation to buy.

Tips & Warnings

Be wary of vacation packages that seem to good to be true. There are often hidden costs.
