Omron Pedometer Instructions

Omron Pedometer Instructions
Pedometers are an excellent way of tracking important performance indicators of your daily walking routine toward completing a full, effective workout. Omron manufactures a number of pedometers that offer key features like seven-day storage and daily automatic data reset. If you've lost the instructions, setting up your Omron pedometer is a matter of a few important but basic steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Set-Up

Step 1
Set the time on your Omron pedometer. Before using your pedometer, you'll want to ensure that it is properly set up. Setting the time will allow you to take full advantage of features like the daily data reset.
Step 2
To set, use a small, firm instrument like a pencil tip or stylus to press the "System Reset" button on the back of the pedometer.
Step 3
Hit the "Set" button with your instrument. The hours will begin flashing. Tap the "Memo" button, located on the top of the unit, to advance by one hour until the hour is set correctly. Then hit "Set" again.
Step 4
Set the minutes. Once you set the hour, the minutes begin to flash. Tap the "Memo" button and increase by a single minute. Hold the button down and the minutes will increase by 10. Once you've reached the appropriate minute, press "Set" again.

Use

Step 1
Clip the pedometer to your belt or waistband. Do not place it in your pocket. The unit should be upright and will not work appropriately if the face is at an angle of 60 degrees or less in relation to the ground. Keep it upright and perpendicular to the ground to ensure that it's working. The Omron label should be at the top and level.
Step 2
Walk at a consistent pace. After four seconds, the Omron will begin counting steps and you'll get the step count for those first seconds. The pedometer will continue counting from there.
Step 3
View your step count on the face of the unit. To scroll through the seven days' worth of stored data, hit the "Memo" button and return to the previous day. Repeat to go back another day. To get back to the current day, hold down the "Memo" button or don't touch any buttons for one minute. Step count data automatically resets to zero at 12 a.m.
Step 4
If you want to clear all data, or if the display becomes unreadable, press the "System Reset" button as described in section 1 to clear everything. You'll then need to reset the time.

Care Instructions

Step 1
Omron suggests regular cleaning with a soft, dry cloth. Do not submerge the unit in water or allow water to get in it as it is not waterproof. Don't use abrasive cleaners or cleaning agents.
Step 2
When not in use, store the unit in a dry, clean area away from sunlight, such as a closet or drawer. Keep away from water, dust and humid areas.
Step 3
Take the battery out if the unit will not be used for three months or more.

Tips & Warnings

These instructions are based on the Omron HJ 150, Omron's most basic pedometer. Other models will require additional instructions to calculate other factors such as calories burned and distance traveled. Refer to the link below for a list of other instruction manuals.

Certain conditions impede the pedometer's ability to properly count your steps. These include walking at an inconsistent pace (e.g. when in a crowd), attaching the unit in an improper way as discussed in Section 2, Step 1, or climbing stairs or steep hills.
