How to Get Low-Cost Airfare
Finding a low-cost airfare is extremely important in rough economic times or for fliers on a budget. Paying less for airfare allows the traveler to spend more on necessities like food, beverages and transportation when they reach their destination. Finding low-cost airfare can be done with the right tools and knowledge.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step 1
Locate a website that keeps track of fare costs. These websites constantly monitor the prices of airfare in order to help consumers find the lowest price, no matter where you live. An example of an airfare monitoring website is Fare Watchers.
Step 2
Sign up with websites of different airlines. Choose the option to receive email updates with special offers and deals. Check your email often for low-cost airfare and other deals.
Step 3
Get involved with all travel companies, not just your favorites. Big companies and small companies alike can help you in finding low-cost airfare. Extensive research is likely to get you better results.
Step 4
Book your flights right away when you find a deal. Do not wait. Airfare costs can rise and fall within minutes. It's important to book immediately to avoid having to pay more in 15 minutes when you check back.
Step 5
Choose a weekday to fly. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are the best days to find cheap airfare. These days are the least busy. If you call around 12 a.m., you're likely to find a good deal because this is when new airfares are released.
Step 6
Get your discount. If you're a senior or in the military, you may receive a discount.
