Cancun Vacation With Kids

Cancun Vacation With Kids
Cancun, Mexico is a beautiful beachfront area on the Yucatan Peninsula that extends to an island just off its coast. With the Caribbean Sea on one side and a lagoon on the other, there are plenty of opportunities for water fun, as well as other activities for kids.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step 1
Check out all-inclusive hotels in Cancun that specialize in families. These hotels have planned activities for kids, day care services, pools, water parks, scuba lessons, and just about anything else you could think of without ever leaving your resort. Choose one that works for your family, and book it. There is a link at the bottom for a list of hotels in the Cancun area.
Step 2
Go to the ruins. You and your kids are in ancient Mayan territory, and you shouldn't pass up the opportunity to learn a little something about where you really are. There is a an old Mayan structure right in the hotel zone called El Rey where you can see the some of what the architecture might have looked like. A bonus is all the iguanas who live around the ruins. Or travel to ruins such as El Castillo, about 6 miles from Cancun.

Step 3
Take some time on the beach. Whether you stay at your hotel or travel to another area, spend some time in the sun on Cancun's white sand beaches. There is much to do, including swimming, body surfing, scuba diving, or even fishing. If you have the time and enjoy scuba diving, the Great Mesoamerican Reef is a great place to visit. It's the second-largest coral reef in the world.
Step 4
Check out the ecological theme park, Xcaret, where you can swim with dolphins or sharks, watch wildlife, or swim in an underground river. There is entertainment, a butterfly pavilion, and snuba diving. Snuba attaches a oxygen hose to a face mask, which allows children under 12 to experience an activity similar to scuba diving. Weighted suits help them go low into the water.
