How to Get an Emergency Passport in New York
Whether you're seeking adventure at the last minute or taking up an offer you can't refuse, you might find yourself with an international plane ticket and just days to get a passport. Most passport processing services can take up to 10 weeks during busy periods, but if you can't wait, there are services that can get you an emergency passport in as little as 24 hours and keep your adventure alive. Emergency passports are valid for one year after their issue date.

Things You’ll Need:
  • Birth certificate Photo ID Social Security card
  • Birth certificate

Step 1
Gather your birth certificate, government-issued photo ID, and your Social Security card.
Step 2
Visit or call an emergency passport service, such as It's Easy Passport & Visa Services or Rush Passport.com, Inc., to order a passport. If you do not go into an office, you will need to fax your documents to receive your passport.
Step 3
Complete an application, which will ask for your personal identification information and your residence. You will also have to provide a travel itinerary displaying travel plans within the next two weeks of your application date.
Step 4
Pay the emergency passport processing fee, which can range from $50 to $250 depending on how quickly you need it.

Most rush processing services also offer rush visa processing.
 
Emergency passports are only valid for a limited period of time. You will still need to apply for a permanent passport for long-term foreign travel. These passports will last for 10 years.
