As with any type of sleeping bag, choosing one with a polyester lining will require some thought.
Polyester bags hold up better than down, especially if your camping habits include warmer and wetter conditions. They are also more economical and provide a dry, comfortable night's sleep. Style, size, price and materials all need to be considered when choosing your polyester-lined bag. With a little research, you should end up with the perfect bag.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1
Consider how much money you have to invest in a sleeping bag. Generally, the pricier the bag, the better the polyester lining and construction will be. Purchase the best sleeping bag you can afford.
Step 2
Select the style of bag that is best suited for your outdoor adventure. Mummy bags are the priciest and are good for cold weather but are somewhat restrictive. Rectangle bags are inexpensive, warmer weather bags and less restrictive. Semi-rectangle bags are a cross between both the above. All can be purchased with a polyester lining.
Step 3
Consider the coldest temperature expected where you will be camping. Look at the bag's rating and add an additional ten degrees. This will be a more correct figure to use in determining which bag lining will be right for you.
Step 4
Feel the inside of the sleeping bag to see how smooth the polyester lining is to the touch. Cheaper brands will have cotton mixed with the polyester, making the inside rougher.
Step 5
Consider the process to clean the bag and polyester lining. Don't choose a bag that is too difficult or expensive for you to clean.
Step 6
Check who manufactureed your polyester-lined sleeping bag. Usually a manufacturer that is well known in the outdoor gear industry will make a better constructed bag. You will get more for your money when purchasing one.

Tips & Warnings

Pure cotton linings will feel like flannel. Sleeping inside your bag wearing clothes will keep it clean longer. Body oils will dirty the bag quicker. Follow the cleaning and care instructions included with your sleeping bag. This will maintain its durability and extend its life.
