Instructions for Ozark Trail Tents

Instructions for Ozark Trail Tents
Ozark Trail tents, carried by discount retailer Wal-Mart, and are inexpensive quality starter tents for recreational campers. Ozark Trail, which is a brand of the larger tent manufacturer Northpole, makes cabin tents, screen houses and dome tents. Without instructions, assembling one can seem daunting, but the company has made the process simple with shock-corded poles and even color-coded sleeves.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:
  • Tent Poles Rain fly Stakes Mallet
  • Tent
  • Poles
  • Rain fly
  • Stakes
  • Mallet
Step 1
Unroll the Ozark Trail dome tent and lay it flat after finding a spot for pitching it. Pull each corner out so the tent is fully outstretched. Keep the door unzipped.
Step 2
Assemble each pole. The fiberglass poles should be shock-corded together, so push all the pieces together into one pole. Be sure all connections are secure. Ozark Trail dome tents use a series of 3, 4 or 5 main poles; larger tents also have smaller poles for other entryways. Most tents include another pole for the fly.
Step 3
Assemble the main tent dome. Push each one of the main poles through one of the sleeves--the sleeves may be colored to help identify which pole goes where. When all poles have been placed in the sleeves, bend the first one into place and push the end of it onto the pin-ring connector located at the bottom of the tent. Hold this end and have someone else connect the opposite end into that pin connector. Some Ozark Trail tents use hubs on the upper center, into which the pole ends are connected.
Step 4
Connect all pole ends to the pin-ring connectors. Locate the pole clips on the tent and clip them to the poles. The tent should be standing upright. Do a quick check to make sure the tent sleeves are extended and aren't bunched around the pole segments.
Step 5
Install any smaller area poles that belong on the main tent body in the same manner as the larger poles--insert through the sleeve, then connect the ends to the tent hardware.
Step 6
Attach the rain fly. Throw the fly over top the tent and adjust it so that it sits evenly. Install the rain fly pole into the sleeve on the bottom side of the fly. Connect its ends into the fly hardware and connect the fly hooks onto the loops of the tent. Attach any fabric fly fasteners to the poles.
Step 7
Stake the tent out, being sure to use all stakes.
Step 8
Install accessories. Ozark Dome tents come with gear lofts and sometimes cup holders that attach with plastic hooks on the ceiling inside the tent.
