How to Use a North Crest Two-Room Cabin Tent

How to Use a North Crest Two-Room Cabin Tent
North Crest tents are manufactured by North Pole, which also makes tents sold under a variety of other brand names, including the store brands of Target and Wal-Mart. When you purchase one of these tents, you'll need to learn how to use it correctly to ensure that you'll have the tent for years to come.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • Tent stakes Hammer Small rug or mat
  • Tent stakes
  • Hammer
  • Small rug or mat
Step 1
Place the two-room cabin tent on a flat surface, with the tent door facing the direction you want to use. Run the tent stakes through the loops surrounding the tent and pound the pieces into the ground by hitting them with a hammer. Make sure that you keep the floor as flat as possible when doing this.
Step 2
Snap the tent poles together by twisting the pieces of the poles. All of the poles on North Crest tents contain an inner cord that lets you easily snap the poles together. Slide the poles through the loops on the tent and gently push up until the tent takes shape.
Step 3
Connect the frame of the tent to the tent by looking for the small rings on the bottom and side of the tent. Slide the tent poles into these rings, starting with the back and working your way to the front. These rings keep the tent frame in place and ensure that the tent holds up during high winds.
Step 4
Attach the inner partition that separates the cabin tent into two rooms. This partition zips into place once you slide the zipper through the teeth on the sides and top of the tent. Other types of North Crest tents use cords and rings to divide them into two rooms. If you have this type of tent, slide the bungee cords through the rings and twist to secure the pieces.
Step 5
Layout the inside of the tent by placing your bed rolls, sleeping bags or air mattress in the center of each room, keeping them as much as possible away from the sides of the tent. Place the rest of your items inside the tent and put a small rug or mat on the outside where you can wipe your feet before entering the tent.

Tips & Warnings

Put down a ground covering if you're worried about the bottom becoming frayed or worn. This protects the bottom of the tent from tree branches, rocks and anything else that might puncture it.

Always bring along extra tent stakes, especially if you use the plastic ones that came with your North Crest two-room cabin tent. These stakes can break in hard ground and you'll need replacements to secure the tent.
