How to Put up a Pop-Up Tent

How to Put up a Pop-Up Tent
Pop-up tents are small, lightweight camping tents. The main attraction is that they are quick and easy to set up and bring down. They are usually dome-shaped and made of waterproof material such as nylon. It takes only a few minutes to put one up.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • Pop-up tent
  • Four stakes and hammer
Step 1
Determine where you want to set up your tent. Select a flat area, with few rocks and no tree bark or roots. Make sure the ground isn't too lumpy to sleep on and beware of the possibility of ripping your tent.
Step 2
Spread out the tent. Make it flat and even. Locate the flexible poles and unfold them, making them straight.
Step 3
Guide one pole through the seam from one corner to the other diagonally across. Do this slowly to avoid ripping the seams. Do the same with the opposite side. These poles should cross in the middle (on the top of the tent).
Step 4
Pull up on one of the poles to make it pop up. The tent should pop up into an arc or dome shape. Attach the pins at each corner of the tent to the flexible poles.
Step 5
Place the stakes through the holes at the edges of the tent. Put the stake through the hole and into the ground. Use a hammer if you can't press the stake into the ground by hand.

Tips & Warnings

If the tent has a window, move the window facing the direction you want while it lays flat.
