How to Review Running Watches

How to Review Running Watches
There are dozens of different makes and models of running watches available. Many are seemingly similar in shape and design, but the features may be completely different. From a calories burned counter to a heart rate monitor, running watches can have a wide range of features. It is important to go over these features so you can select the running watch that will best fit your needs.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1
Inspect the watch face carefully and examine the display. You will want a wide digital display so it will be easier to read. Squinting down at your arm while you are running because the read out is too small is not desirable.
Step 2
Check to see if there is a light function. The light function will ignite the background surrounding the digital display, which will allow you to read the read out in dark situations. This is great if you enjoy taking evening or early morning jogs.
Step 3
Make sure the running watch has a timer and stop watch on it. This will help you measure how long you have been running for in comparison to other days. Most watches will have this features, but some are just flashy versions of an ordinary wrist watch.
Step 4
Read to see if it has a calories burned counter. The watch will determine this typically by your age, height and weight, as well as the speed you are traveling. The reading will not be completely accurate but it will give you a fair gauge at how many calories you have actually gone through.
Step 5
Look to see if there is a heart rate monitor on it. These will normally have chest bands which accompany the device. The heart rate monitor will tell you how many beats per minute your heart is beating at. This will help you accomplish having an accelerated heart rate for an extended period of time, which will ultimately give you a better cardio work out.
