Tubbs Snowshoe Instructions

Tubbs Snowshoe Instructions
Snowshoeing is an excellent form of winter recreation that can be pursued by the young and old, and enjoyed by the entire family. While you're enjoying the aerobic benefits of snowshoeing, you can enjoy beautiful winter scenery. Anyone who can walk can snowshoe. Tubbs snowshoes are a popular line. The company makes several models for different uses; each model has a slightly different binding.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • Winter hiking boots
  • Tubbs snowshoes
Step 1
Place the snowshoe on the ground and have the rear buckles positioned for the outside of the foot.
Step 2
Step your foot into the Tubbs binding and slide the toe of the boot forward into the binding until it is pressing against the front of the binding and your foot is lined up over the toe cord.
Step 3
Pull back and down on the straps at the instep, snugging the binding up over the front of your foot. Place the excess webbing inside the clips located on the binding.
Step 4
Pull the heel strap back until it is snug around the back of your foot. Tuck away the excess webbing inside the clip.
Step 5
Stand with your feet about shoulder width apart and walk in the snowshoes. The snowshoes have a crampon under the foot that is designed to help with uphill traction. Some models, such as the Mountaineer and Couloir, have a heel lift that can be raised so that your heel remains in a neutral position while climbing steep slopes, instead of collapsing back down to the snowshoe.

Tips & Warnings

Tubbs snowshoes are available with gender specific bindings; the women's versions are designed to fit a woman's smaller foot.
