Homemade Camping Hammock

Homemade Camping Hammock
Setting up a hammock during a camping trip is a nice way to relax and enjoy the beauty and sounds of the great outdoors. Rather than drag along a bulky hammock, you can create a simple hammock with a few basic items that are commonly toted along on camping trips. A length of rope, sleeping bag, two conveniently located trees, and a few minutes are all you need to craft a simple fabric sling.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • Rope Sleeping bag
  • Rope
  • Sleeping bag
Step 1
Bring a length of rope at least 25 to 30 feet in length. The rope should be in good condition to prevent accidents.
Step 2
Fold the rope in half and then tie each end of the doubled rope to a tree. This should form two ropes hanging between the trees.
Step 3
Unzip the sleeping bag to form a large rectangular blanket and hang the sleeping bag over one of the ropes. Approximately 1/4 of the sleeping bag should be hanging between the ropes with the rest hanging outside of the ropes.
Step 4
Bring the longer side of the sleeping bag underneath both of the ropes and drape the end of it over the second rope. Both ends of the sleeping bag should now be hanging between the two ropes. Make sure that the ends overlap.
Step 5
Lay down in the hammock. Your body weight will hold the ends of the blanket securely in place and keep the layers of the sleeping bag together.
