Renting a vacation home while will allow you to have all the conveniences you enjoy at your own home. Many people have homes they rent out seasonally or all year long. Finding one isn't as hard as you might think. With a little research and a few phone calls, you should find a vacation home in no time that will fulfill all of your requirements for a pleasant getaway.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1
Check online to see if the city where you will be visiting has a visitors' guide to the area. Usually companies offering rental properties will be listed, and you can get their contact information.
Step 2
Call real estate companies located in the area where you will be traveling. They should have detailed listings of properties that are for rent. Some might even have virtual tours online where you will be able to look at the property before you rent it.
Step 3
Ask what deposits are required, if any, and how and when full payment of your rental fees will be required. Some places might require you to place a deposit to hold the rental. Find out if you will get your deposit back once you have vacated the premises.
Step 4
Inquire whether pets are allowed in the vacation home, if you plan on bringing yours. Some places might not allow them, and you don't want to show up with Fido if he's not allowed in the house.
Step 5
Ask what local attractions are in the area. This will give you a better idea of the recreational activities that are close to the house and what gear you need to bring.
Step 6
Inquire about the home's furnishings and appliances. You will need to know if the home has furniture, bedding and dishes, operates off gas or electric and has heating and air conditioning.
Step 7
Find out what is included in your rental fee. You will want to know if the utilities such as electricity, water, cleaning services, phone and Internet service are included. Be sure to read the rental contract fully before signing so you will know exactly what you are paying for.
Step 8
Acquire phone numbers of the landlord or maintenance person in the event something goes wrong inside of the house and needs to be repaired during your vacation stay.
